“You Tainted My Heart” - Absalom's Perspective (Part 1)

Never Known.
Never once named among the wanting.
But for the love of my sister,
Love for my sister,
I became the menace one has never seen.

Known for nothing more than my beauty.
Blessed by the gods, with hair that makes me wealthy.
But for your uncontrollable lust towards my flesh and blood,
A curse I became to society.

Innocent and unsuspecting,
Why would she have been weary of you?
Cautious of entering her brother's room?

With nothing but a care for you,
A desire to nurse you back into a perfect bloom,
She thoughtlessly, fully confident in her safety with you, entered your bedroom.

And father? Oh, but father?
Where was he when he was needed the most?
What good was he, in this predicament involving my sister?
Where was his righteous judgment, as king?

Was she worth nothing more than a fleeting moment of anger?
He was “very angry”. Very angry, and nothing more?
What has the king done to avenge her? How did he rectify the situation?

Oh, king after God's heart!
What was your heart towards my sister?
Tamar, my beloved.

She lays hidden, at my abode, in a puddle of her own tears.
Day and night, she laments at my feet,
Because her own brother destroyed her future.
He crushed her dreams.

Oh, Amnon
Count your days, and keep watch of your nights.
I'll take matters into my own hands.
Because pay, you will. Pay, you shall.
